Auction Market Builds

The auction market is gaining momentum, with a 13% rise in properties going under the hammer last week.

According to CoreLogic, the clearance rate across capital cities reached 67.4%, the highest level since October 2024.

Of the 1,712 auctions held last weekend, Sydney recorded the highest clearance rate at 73%, followed by Melbourne at 68.4%.

The leaderboard has shifted, with Adelaide previously leading auction success in late 2024. Last week, Canberra recorded a 64.1% clearance rate, Adelaide hit 63.3%, and Brisbane sat at 50.7%.

CoreLogic Executive Research Director Tim Lawless says auction volumes are expected to increase further in the coming weeks, typically peaking just before Easter.

He notes that early trends suggest stronger selling conditions, possibly due to growing buyer confidence as expectations of an interest rate cut rise.
