Whilst in NSW, Tim Guest recently attended Austereo’s annual ball for Give Me 5 For Kids– a foundation dedicated to raising funds to help sick children around the country, based on the idea that even 5c can help change a sick child’s life.
Give Me 5 for Kids all started in a parking station after a parking attendant refused to accept Sarah King’s payment of 5 cent pieces , Sarah commented that 5 cent pieces were ‘useless’ and asked their listeners what they might be good for. Feedback from the community prompted the creation of : ‘Give Me 5 For Kids Appeal’. Starting off as a simple ‘coin drive’, Give Me 5 for Kids has grown to encompass major fundraising promotions and even corporate donations from major Central Coast businesses. Over the years, well over a million dollars has been raised for children’s services at Gosford and Wyong hospitals. Money has also been provided to support wonderful and selfless organisations who cater to the needs of children across the Central Coast.
Each year, a number of items are auctioned at the ball, including a pebble – which has previously been sold for $1k and $3k respectively.
This year Tim took that to a whole new level when he donated $5k on the pebble – the highest it has ever gone for! 2GO Radio, sponsors of the ball, interviewed Tim thanking him for his contribution.
