Kings Park and the Fremantle Markets have snatched the blue-ribbon Mayfair and Park Lane positions on Perth’s first ever Monopoly board. Twenty-two Perth landmarks were selected to replace the famous London sites for the edition after suggestions from the public on Facebook.
The riverside set of Light Blue properties are made up of the Swan River, The Bell Tower and the Fremantle Prison. As suggested by Perth’s Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, the brown properties have been assigned to Council House and the Town Hall. The yellow portfolio showcases our most popular beaches including Cottesloe and Scarborough as well as Rottnest Island.
Sporting venues the WACA, Paterson’s Stadium and Perth Arena comprise the pink properties. The orange locations include tourist attractions Hillary’s Boat Harbour, Adventure World and Scitech. Red spots are made up of shopping precincts ENEX100, Carillon City and Karrinyup Shopping Centre. University of Western Australia and Crown Perth made the cut on the green properties, along with the Perth Zoo.
On Utilities is Perth Water and Perth Electricity, while the Railroads include Perth Buses, Perth Trains, Perth Ferries and Perth Airport. The board was unveiled this morning by Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt at the Fremantle Prison.
